The V 12 TDI for the 24h of Le Mans - Victory of an Idea

The V 12 TDI for the 24h of Le Mans - Victory of an Idea

Fore more than 50 years there were several attempts to win the hardest endurance race of the world with a Diesel engine. AUDI who has pioneered the introduction of the first direct injection passenger engine TDI has developed an innovative powerplant for his purpose. With the first run at last years 24h race a historical victory was achieved. The new engine shows a very low weight, a very compact design and a new type of particulate filter system. In combination with a sophisticated combustion process and an extreme high injection pressure a remarkable power output along with low consumption and very low emissions are guaranteed in the race. AUDI shows again its philosophy of customer orientated motorsport by developing and testing new technologies convincingly on the racetrack, before they will introduced in road cars.

The 24 hours of the Le Mans Race are truly unique. This has been already in 1923 when the race took place for the very first time and this hasn’t changed even up to the present day. However the character of the race has changed dramatically during the last 83 years.
Starting with the idea of holding an endurance race for driver, car and crew with occasional stops for repairs, the race has turned into a 24-hour sprint race. During the 24 hours the winning R 10 TDI® stood for only 30 minutes in the pit, including 27 stops for refuelling, change of tyres, drivers and a gearbox cluster!

Bosch VE pump head reinstallation how-to

Bosch VE pump head reinstallation how-to

I will show you how to put your Bosch VE type injection pump head back on the pump body and how to install all the parts inside the pump. You most likely had leaking seals on your pump and pulled the head off to put a new seal on and everything fell inside and now you have a mess on your hands. This how-to shows the pump head and associated parts only. The injection quantity parts have been show in other threads.

First, the only way to do this is take the pump off the car. Then take the pump cover and the injection quantity body off the pump if it is not already apart. Since you most likely screwed up Diesel geeks instructions, or you did not even try that and you pulled the head off yourself, all you have is a bunch of loose parts inside your pump, so dump them out and let’s get started.

Warning!!!! This is how I did my pump! It worked. I will not be responsible for what you do to your pump. I am not a Bosch service center, I am just a guy with the same problem you have. If you think IQ means intelligence quotient or you think bio is brief history of a persons life, or you think that a TDI timing belt job is the most difficult mechanical job you can think of, then stop right here. This is not for the average car owner. It will take lots of patience and you must be meticulous and have all the parts in their right place. If not you will be looking for a new pump. You have been warned!

PDC Programming - from Audi A2

PDC Programming - from Audi A2

On reversing, the parking aid system uses the echo-sounding principle to measure the distance between the back end of the vehicle and an obstacle. For this purpose, the rear bumper is fitted with four ultrasonic sensors. The sensors are actuated both in combined transmit/receive mode and in pure receive mode. On the Audi A2, the parking aid control unit features CAN capability, i.e. both the self-diagnosis and the actual system only function when the CAN is active.

Function:
The parking aid consists of the following:
Parking aid control unit -J446
Rear left parking aid sender -G203
Centre rear left parking aid sender -G204
Centre rear right parking aid sender -G205
Rear right parking aid sender -G206
Rear parking aid warning buzzer -H15
A self-test lasting less than one second is performed after switching on the ignition.
The control unit is then permanently in operation, however the distance sensing function is only activated on engaging reverse gear.
