SUZUKI GSX1300R HAYABUSA:ULTIMATE SPORT PDF

When Suzuki engineers began designing the GSX1300R they set out to produce a motorcycle so advanced that it didn’t fit in any established categories. A motorcycle with breathtaking acceleration, nimble handling, and world-class fit and finish. A machine so advanced it demanded a new performance category: Ultimate Sport. With Suzuki’s experience in building high-performance motorcycles, meeting the engine performance goals and building an excellent chassis wouldn’t be a problem. But to make this kind of performance seem effortless would be the ultimate challenge.

One of the engineers recalled seeing the incredible flight of a small Falcon indigenous to Japan called Hayabusa. The Hayabusa is not the biggest or strongest bird in Japan, but it has the amazing ability to slice through the air reaching speeds of over 186 mph, making normal flight seem effortless. The engineer realized he had discovered the key element to the design. Make the bike able to slice through the air like a Hayabusa and normal performance would be almost effortless. It would be the most aerodynamic Suzuki ever built and it would be called the Hayabusa.

What do you do when your diesel needs attention? Don’t call a mechanic. Learn how to care for it yourself. A friend of mine who I considered to be a knowledgeable, experienced boater recently made a remark in passing that startled me: “The most important tool in my toolbox is my checkbook.” He was serious. Everytime he noticed a drop of lube oil or antifreeze in his bilge or that his engines didn’t sound the way they should, he’d call his mechanic. He said it wasn’t worth his time to investigate problems himself. “That’s fine,” I said, “but you often cruise for several weeks, right? So

Diesel Engines Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow Diesels are workhorse engines. That’s why you find them powering heavy-duty trucks, buses, tractors, and trains, not to mention large ships, bulldozers, cranes, and other construction equipment. In the past, diesels fit the stereotype of muscle-bound behe-moths. They were dirty and sluggish, smelly and loud. That image doesn’t apply to today’s diesel engines, however, and tomorrow’s diesels will show even greater improvements. They will be even more fuel efficient, more flexible in the fuels they can use, and also much cleaner in emissions.

Warning lights and gauges can alert you to a vehicle condition that may become serious enough to cause expensive repairs. A warning light may illuminate when a problem exists with one of your vehicle’s functions. Many lights will illuminate when you start your vehicle to make sure the bulb works. If any light remains on after starting the vehicle, refer to the respective system warning light for additional information. Service engine soon: The Service engine soon indicator light illuminates when the ignition is first turned to the ON position to check the bulb and to indicate whether the vehicle is ready for Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) testing.

Normally, the Service engine soon light will stay on until the engine is cranked, then turn itself off if no malfunctions are present. However, if after 15 seconds the Service engine soon light blinks eight times, it means that the vehicle is not ready for I/M testing. See the Readiness for Inspection/Maintenance $(I/M) testing in the Maintenance and Specifications chapter.

The Focus Midget engine is equipped with an opposite rotation water pump impeller, and the water pump pulley turns in the opposite direction when compared to the street version of the engine. This does not reverse the coolant flow through the engine, it simply allows the pulley to be driven with the HTD belt instead of using the back-side of a serpentine belt. No modifications to the water pump impeller or water pump pulley are allowed.

This photo shows a typical “burp tank” installation. The tank is mounted as high on the dash as possible. One line runs from the center of the tank to the radiator, and another line runs from the bottom of the tank to the water elbow at the rear of the cylinder head.

There is an airbag readinesslight on the instrument panel, which shows “AIR BAG’ on it. The system checks the airbag’s electrical system for malfunctions. The light tells you if there is an electrical problem.See “Air Bag Readiness Light” in Index for more the information. When should an air bag inflate? The air bag is designed to inflate in moderate to severe frontal or near-frontal crashes. The airbag will inflate only if the impact speed is above the system’s designed “threshold level.” If your vehicle goes straight into a wall that doesn’t move or deform, the threshold level is about 9 to 15 mph ( 14 to 24 km/h).

The threshold level can vary, however, with specific vehicle design, so that it can be somewhat above orbelow this range. If your vehicle strikes something that will move or deform, such as a parked car,the threshold level will be higher. The air bag is not designed to inflate in rollovers, side impacts, or rear impacts, because inflation would not help the occupant.

You can be severely injured or killed in a crash if you aren’t wearing your safety belt — even if you have air bags. Wearing your safety belt during a crash helps reduce your chance of hitting things inside the vehicle or being ejected from it. Air bags are “supplemental restraints” to the safety belts. All air bags are designed to work with safety belts, but don’t replace them. Air bags are designed to work only in moderate to severe crashes where the front of your vehicle hits something. They aren’t designed to inflate at all in rollover, rear, side or low-speed frontal crashes.

And, for unrestrained occupants, air bags may provide less protection in frontal crashes than more forceful air bags have provided in the past. Everyone in your vehicle should wear a safety belt properly — whether or not there’s an air bag for that person.

Q: Won’t I be trapped in the vehicle after an accident if I’m wearing a safety belt? A: You could be — whether you’re wearing a safety belt or not. But you can unbuckle a safety belt, even if you’re upside down. And your chance of being conscious during and after an accident, so you can unbuckle and get out, is much greater if you are belted. Q: If my vehicle has air bags, why should I have to wear safety belts?

A: Air bags are in many vehicles today and will be in most of them in the future. But they are supplemental systems only; so they work with safety belts — not instead of them. Every air bag system ever offered for sale has required the use of safety belts. Even if you’re in a vehicle that has air bags, you still have to buckle up to get the most protection. That’s true not only in frontal collisions, but especially in side and other collisions.

A child restraint system is any device designed for use in a motor vehicle to restrain, seat, or position children. A built-in child restraint system is a permanent part of the motor vehicle. An add-on child restraint system is a portable one, which is purchased by the vehicle’s owner. For many years, add-on child restraints have used the adult belt system in the vehicle. To help reduce the chance of injury, the child also has to be secured within the restraint. The vehicle’s belt system secures the add-on child restraint in the vehicle, and the add-on child restraint’s harness system holds the child in place within the restraint.

One system, the three-point harness, has straps that come down over each of the infant’s shoulders and buckle together at the crotch. The five-point harness system has two shoulder straps, two hip straps and a crotch strap. A shield may take the place of hip straps. A T-shaped shield has shoulder straps that are attached to a flat pad which rests low against the child’s body. A shelf- or armrest-type shield has straps that are attached to a wide, shelf-like shield that swings up or to the side.

Montana Motorcycle Supplement 2005-2006 pdf

What you do before you start a trip goes a long way toward determining whether or not you’ll get where you want to go safely. Before taking off on any trip, a safe rider makes a point to: 1. Wear the right gear. 2. Become familiar with the motorcycle. 3. Check the motorcycle equipment. 4. Be a responsible rider. WEAR THE RIGHT GEAR When you ride, your gear is “right” if it protects you. In any crash, you have a far better chance of avoiding serious injury if you wear:

• An approved helmet. • Face or eye protection. • Protective clothing. HELMET USE Crashes can occur - particularly among untrained, beginning riders. And one out of every five motorcycle crashes results in head or neck injuries. Head injuries are just as severe as neck injuries — and far more common. Crash analyses show that head and neck injuries account for a majority of serious and fatal injuries

As most of you know, most kinds of manuals have the tendency to dissolve into thin air. Most people who buy a motorcycle secondhand, don’t get the owner’s manual along with it. I did neither. Because Honda could not provide me a copy of this manual, I do not think that they will prevent anyone from copying it.

I asked someone to provide me the manual and scanned it for everyone to copy and read. The original size of the manual is: 10.5 x 14.7 cm (5.8 x 4.1 Inch). Enjoy your motorcycle, riding and maintaining it.
