1988-1990 Chevy/GMC K1500, K2500 Dual Steering Stabilizer Installation Instructions

Install Steering Stabilizer
1. Position kit bracket (frame) onto front crossmember as shown below. Ensure vertical portion of kit bracket (frame) is centered on front crossmember. Measure 3” from rear edge of front crossmember to forward most hole in kit bracket (frame). Mark three holes in front crossmember corresponding to three holes in kit bracket (frame).
2. Drill three 7/16” holes in front crossmember at marked locations.
3. From 3222BAG: Install kit bracket (frame) onto front crossmember with three kit bolts (7/16”-14 x 1-1/4), three kit washers (3/8” USS) and three nuts (7/16”-14). TORQUE to specification.
4. Driver side tie rod
a. From 3222BAG: Install kit bracket (tie rod) onto tie rod with two kit u-bolts, four kit washers (1/ 4” USS) and four kit nuts (5/16”-18) as close to inner tie rod adjustment sleeves as possible. DO NOT TORQUE.
b. Install kit boot onto kit stabilizer with kit tie.
c. From SHBAG70 & 145098: Install body end of kit stabilizer onto kit bracket (frame) with two kit washers (stem cup), two kit bushings (stem) and kit nut (3/8”). DO NOT TIGHTEN.
d. From SHBAG70 & 145098: Install piston end of kit stabilizer onto kit bracket (tie rod) with two kit washer (stem cup), two kit bushings (stem) and kit nut (3/8”). DO NOT TIGHTEN.
e. TORQUE kit u-bolts to specification
f. TIGHTEN two kit nuts (3/8”) until kit bushings (stem) are slightly compressed.
g. From SHBAG70: Install two kit nuts (3/8” jam) onto kit stabilizer.
h. Repeat above substeps for passenger side tie rod.
5. Turn steering wheel lock-to-lock and ensure kit brackets and/or kit stabilizers are not interfering with any fixed or moving suspension and/or frame components. Adjust kit brackets and/or kit stabilizers if necessary.

After Completing Installation
Engine Compartment
1. Connect both battery cables. Connect positive cable first, then negative cable.
Miscellaneous
1. Check all fasteners to ensure they are tight.
2. Ensure all wires, hoses, cables, etc. are properly connected and there is ample slack.
