2004–2005 MY Golf, Jetta and New Beetle with TDI Engines Replace EGR Cooler
We are writing to inform you of an emissions recall on some 2004-2005 model year Volkswagen Golf, Jetta and New Beetle TDI engine vehicles. Our records show that you are the owner of one of these vehicles.
What Is The Problem?
The EGR cooler on affected vehicles has the potential to develop an internal leak. If this happens, the MIL light may come on, and the vehicle may exceed Federal and/or California emissions standards.
What Will Volkswagen Do?
Replace the EGR cooler.

Please contact your authorized Volkswagen dealer and arrange for an appointment without delay. This service will take about four hours and will be free of charge. Please keep in mind that your dealer may need additional time for the preparation of the repair, as well as to accommodate their daily workshop schedule.

If you are the lessor and registered owner of the vehicle identified in this action, please forward this information immediately via first-class mail to the lessee within ten (10) days of receipt of this notification.
