87-91 Ford Bronco Installation Instructions
1 Read instructions completely and carefully before you begin. Checkthekitfor proper contents (refer to parts list and picture diagrams).
2. Park the vehicle on a clean, dry flat (level) surface. Block the tires so the vehicle cannot roll in either direction. Automatic transmissions should be placed in neutral.
3. Remove both battery cables. Be sure to disconnect the negative cable first, then the positive cable.
4. Remove the screws that mount the doorjamb scuff plates to the body. Remove the scuff plates. Gently remove the plastic tab that mounts the front kick panels. Be very careful not to break the plastic tab. Gently pull out on the kick panels until they come loose. Remove the two screws that mount each rear kick panel. Remove both rear kick panels. Pull the carpeting back to expose the four rubber access hole covers.
5. Remove the screws mounting the rear scuff plate to the body at the rear tailgate area. Remove the scuff plate. Remove the screws mounting each side panel to the body. Pull the side panels out enough to allow the carpeting to be pulled up. Pull the carpeting up enough to expose the rubber access hole cover just behind the rear seat. Remove the access hole cover.
6. Remove the air intake duct where it mounts on top of the radiator. Gently pull up on the plastic tabs being especially careful not to break them. Pull the air duct up and out of the way.
7. Check the fuel filler hose to see if there is ample flex in the hose. It may need to be adjusted after the lifting operation is complete.
8. Remove the bolts that mount the fan shroud to the radiator. Remove the fan shroud from the vehicle.
9. Automatic transmission only. Disconnect the transmission shift rod at the steering column and at the transmission. Removethe shift rodfromthe vehicle. It will need to be lengthened.
10. Manual transmission only. The transmission shift lever will drop down in the floorboard after the lifting opeartion is complete. It may be necessary to modify the floorboard or the shift lever, if the shift lever will not engage in all gears. The clutch is hydraulic and requires no modification.
11. 4 wheel drive only. The 4 wheel drive shift lever will drop down in the floorboard after the lifting operation is complete. It may be necessary to modify the floorboard or the shift lever if the shift lever will not engage in all 4 wheel drive ranges.
12. Check the steering shaftto be sure that it is a two piece collapsible type. There should be one shaft that slides into the other shaft. This shaft should extend while lifting
