1. Remove the negative battery cable first, then the positive battery cable. If equipped, the Supplemental Restraint System will be deactivated when the battery is disconnected.
2. Measure and record the space between the bumpers and the body as well as the space between the cab and bed for reference during installation of this kit.
FRONT INSTALLATION TRANSMISSION
Manual Transmission
3. Place transmission in neutral. Lever operation will be checked after the lift is complete to see if any floor board trimming is needed for adequate lever clearance. Automatic Transmission (Requires #9905 Automatic Trans Adapter Kit)
4. With the transmission in park, remove the shift linkage running from the steering column down to the transmission near the firewall. Remove the linkage by carefully prying the ends out of the plastic fasteners. Remove the linkage from the vehicle.
5. Loosen the adjusting collar bolt on the transmission end of the linkage.
6. Measure up approximately 1/2” from the transmission end of the linkage and cut the crimped end off. Remove the adjusting collar.
7. Slide the linkage extension onto the linkage by lining up the flats on both the linkage and extension. Using the hole in the extension as a guide, drill a 3/16” hole through the linkage.
8. Install a 3/16” x 3/4” roll pin through the linkage and extension.
9. Install the adjusting collar on the extension (it only goes on one way). Install a 3/16” x 3/4” roll pin in the end of the extension. The modified linkage will be installed in the vehicle after the cab is lifted.
