1988-1998 Chevrolet/GMC 3″ Body Lift Kit Installation Instructions
This guide INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS step:
1. Remove positive and negative battery cables. If equipped, the Supplemental Restraint System will be deactivated when the battery is disconnected.
FRONT BUMPER REMOvAl
2. Note location of front bumper in relation to the front of the vehicle for use in alignment during reinstallation.
3. Remove lower shroud located between the radiator and the front bumper. This provides access to the inside bumper bolts.
4. Remove any wires that may be attached to the bumper.
5. Break loose but do not remove all the bolts attaching the front and side bumper brackets to the frame. This will allow the bumper to move slightly downward providing access to the top bumper bracket bolts.
6. Loosen outside bumper bracket bolts at the bumper. Remove outside bracket hardware at frame and swing the brackets out away from the frame. Remove remaining hardware attaching bumper to inside bumper brackets and separate bumper from vehicle.
7. Remove the six fasteners that mount the inside bumper brackets to the frame and remove them from the vehicle.
STEERING ExTENSION INSTAllATION
8. Remove bolt and nut attaching the steering shaft to the steering column. This bolt is located about 8 inches down from the firewall. Slide the steering shaft down away from the steering column. Do not rotate either shaft.
9. Install steering extension into steering column using OE hardware (Fig. 1). Slide steering shaft onto extension and attach using a 3/8” x 1-1/2” bolt and lock nut. Tighten hardware to proper torque specifications. Use Loctite® on all steering hardware.
