Carb Instructions
INSTALLATION:
1. Switch vehicle ignition to the off position.
2. Loosen the stock rubber grommet hose clamp that connects the stock intake tube to the throttle body. Pry loose the radiator hose retaining clip with a flat head screwdriver next to the fan shroud. Detach the stock intake tube along with the rubber grommet from the throttle body.
3. On the other end, loosen the hose clamp that connects the stock air duct to the mass flow sensor. Pull and remove the stock air duct from the mass flow sensor and away from the engine compartment.
4. Loosen the stock rubber grommet hose clamp that connects your mass flow sensor to the stock filter box. Pull the sensor away from the filter box and set the sensor aside.
5. Remove the stock filter box by pulling straight up and away from the stock filter box mounting tray.
6. Remove the mounting tray from the chassis by loosening all 6 mm bolts with a 10 mm socket or wrench.
7. Install the Volant adapter and gaskets to the stock mass flow sensor by placing the adapter and Volant gasket in the Volant filter box and the 2nd gasket and stock mass flow sensor threw the 3 ¾” hole on the outside of the Volant filter box.
8. Fasten the sensor to the adapter using the three (3) 10/32 x 3/4” bolts with the 5/16” hex key.
9. Install the Volant filter box in the pre-existing space of the stock filter box mounting tray. Use four (4) 6 MM bolts along, four (4) 1/4” lock washers and four (4) fender washers provided to fasten the Volant filter box to the chassis.
10. Note: If you have a Make: GMC/Chevrolet Model: Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Escalade/SS Silverado/Avalanche/Denali the part number should be 15153 and the grommet should be provided from Volant. Apply the rubber grommet to the Volant duct on the end were it connect to the throttle body.
11. Note: If you have a Make: GMC/Chevrolet Model: Silverado/Sierra remove the stock rubber grommet from the stock air duct. Re apply the rubber grommet to the Volant air duct on the end were it connects to the throttle body. Install the Volant air duct by connecting it to the throttle body. Do not tighten the hose clamp yet.
12. Slip on the 3 ¾” X 3 ½” sleeve on the other end of the Volant air duct. Connect the attached 3 ¾” X 3 ½” sleeve to the mass flow sensor. Open the #056 & #060 clamps and wrap both around the 3 ¾” X 3 ½” sleeve. Adjust and tighten the #056 clamp, #060 clamp and the rubber grommet hose clamp located on the throttle body. Do not over tighten.
13. Insert the Volant ram filter in the Volant air box. Connect the ram filter to the Volant air box adapter. Secure the ram filter with the filter clamp provided.
14. Cover the Volant air box with the Volant lid. Align the lid and fasten all five (5) ¼”-20 truss head screws along with the ¼” rubber washers. Tighten all five (5) ¼”-20 truss head screws with a phillips screwdriver.
15. Reconnect the plug to the mass flow sensor.
16. Make sure everything is tightened and properly connected.
