STEP 1 - Read instructions completely before starting installation paying close attention to all safety notes.
STEP 2 - The universal mounting plate is a flat bar that measures 1/2″ x 3″ x 48″. Place the mounting plate into the pick up bed -1/2″ to 1″ behind the front of the bed and centered left to right.
Installation Instructions and Unit Operation, ToyTrax
A. On Ford half ton beds, remove existing carriage bolts and attach mounting plate with new 5″ long bolts, nuts and washers provided.
B. On all other vehicles, locate the cross member bedframe under the truck. Then, choose two of the mounting plate pre-drilled holes and drill two 9/16″ holes through bed and bedframe for attachment. ‘ )o not use two threaded holes for bar attachment to bed of truck. If a bedliner or bed mat is in place, cut-out around mounting plate before installation so that mounting plate rests flat against the metal bed of the truck.
NOTE: On some trucks where the bedframe is not located at the front of the bed, it will be necessary to attach mounting plate by installing a second 1/2″ x 3″ x 17″ flat bar underneath the bed. Drill two 9/16″ diameter holes through bed of truck as well as the lower 17″ flat bar to match up with the holes that are 7″ apart on the upper 48″ mounting bar. Then, attach with through bolts, locknuts and washers.
STEP 3 - Insert 5″ attach bolts through mounting plate, bedliner, truck bed and bedframe and tighten securely using nuts and washers provided. (Use shorter 3″ bolts if using flat bar underneath truck)Be careful not to overtighten. Overtightening could cause damage to the truck bed. Next, pull the ToyTrax unit into the bed and set the front 3″ channel of the ToyTrax to straddle the mounting plate. Align the 2 slotted holes in the ToyTrax with the 2 threaded holes in the mounting plate and loosely fasten with two 1/2″ x2 1/2″ bolts, 1/2″ lock washers and 1/2″ flat washers provided. Center front channel on mounting plate and tighten both bolts securely
