Excess oil must be removed from filter before installation. Blot using paper towels on front and backside of filter until excess oil is removed.
1. Using a socket or an open-end wrench, disconnect the negative terminal connection on the vehicle battery.
2. Remove the factory rubber / plastic flex hose that connects the throttle body to the air filter box. Using a socket or an open-end wrench, remove the small black tubular brace that runs across the corner of the factory air filter box and connects the fender to the radiator shroud.
3. Using a Phillips screw driver, remove the air box lid. Remove the factory paper air filter. Remove the black rectangular muffler from the mass air meter assembly. Install the supplied rubber cap on the opening where the plastic rectangular muffler was removed. Install the supplied True Flow air filter onto the mass air meter assembly. Position mass air meter assembly with True Flow filter and rubber cap installed into the bottom half of the factory air box. Secure air box lid in place before proceeding to the next step.
4. Install the small black tubular brace back into its location.
5. Install the red 3-9/16” x 3-9/16” x 2-1/2” silicone coupler along with two 3-1/2’’ clamps to the air filter box outlet. Make sure coupler is aligned straight with the air filter box outlet then gradually slip the coupler on.
6. Slip the elbow coupler along with one 3-1/2’’ clamp and one 4’’ clamp over the throttle body.
7. Slide the supplied black air tube into the air box coupler. Slide the other end of the tube into the elbow coupler connected to the throttle body. You may have to move the elbow coupler to get the tube to fit. Before tightening, make sure tube is spaced away from radiator coolant line so they don’t rub. Also make sure elbow coupler is spaced away from fan shroud to allow clearance for the fan.
8. Once you have the ends of the air tube in both red couplers, make sure the clamps are positioned over the first ½” of the coupler so when tightened down, they apply pressure against the metal tube now inside each end of the coupler.
9. After alignment of the clamps, slowly tighten each clamp down using a standard screw driver and tighten them by hand until it becomes difficult to turn any further.
10. Stop and check all fittings and connections one last time. Now, put the cable back on the battery and tighten down and make sure it’s not loose.
11. Restart your vehicle and the ECM will reset properly and you should have no check engine light coming on inside the vehicle. If you do, repeat Steps 1 and 9 over again and then Step 10.
12. Place the C.A.R.B. label on or near the True Flow system in the engine compartment.
13. ENJOY!
