SERVICE INTERVALS
Metro
Replace transaxle fluid every 12,000 miles under short trip driving conditions. Under long trip driving conditions, change fluid every 30,000 miles.
Prizm
Under normal driving conditions, no fluid changes are necessary. Under severe driving conditions, change fluid every 30,000 miles or 24 months.
All Other Models
Fluid replacement is not required. Check fluid level at each
engine oil change.
CHECKING FLUID LEVEL Saturn (MP2 & MP3) Park vehicle on level surface. Check fluid level when cold. Fluid should be at FULL mark on dipstick. Drain plug is below dipstick tube.
CAUTION: On Camaro and Firebird T5 (M49) 5-speed transmission, DO NOT mistake reverse shift lever pivot bolt (located on left side of transmission case) with filler plug. Drain and fill plugs are located on right side of transmission case. If reverse pivot bolt is loosened, return spring may fall into case, causing a 2nd gear rattle.
All Other Models
Check lubricant level at fill plug hole on side of transmission. Lubricant should be level with bottom of fill plug hole. Add lubricant as necessary. Install fill plug and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
