Hyundai Tuscon Engine & Suspension Removal & Replacement Allowances
There have been some changes to time allowances for engine and suspension assemblies on recently scheduled vehicles. Previous schedules have shown separate remove and replace allowances for engines and suspension assemblies of approximately 8.00 to 9.50 hours depending on make and model. When formulated, these allowances reflected a component assembly of the motor, suspension and engine compartment hardware.
A consideration of vehicle design for many new models is modular component assembly. This is revellent to 2 areas of the engine compartment. This is specific to front wheel drive vehicles and is detailed below.
1. Engine and suspension assemblies mounted on a modular cradle and installed into the car from underneath as a single unit – Diagram 1.
2. Wiring harnesses are designed to be disconnected at a junction which could be either the fuse box or the ECU through the firewall. This allows the harness to stay with the engine assembly - Photo 2. As shown on an AH Holden Astra, the engine compartment has 3 individual wiring harnesses which unclip from the lower fuse box casing.
Future schedules will consider the above when the time allowances are being formulated.
